There is already so much pressure assigned with this industry and being confined into certain boxes and I personally want to try everything and continue to give myself the freedom to create whatever feels organic in that moment. Charlotte wrote “Alright” when she was in a very low place in life. She felt hopeless for the future, and that feeling began to isolate her.

Originally from Massachusetts, Charlotte moved to Nashville at 18 to chase her dreams, and although it was challenging at times, she claims it was the best decision she’s ever made. She used the pandemic to perfect her craft and release incredible music that gave her fans a bright escape in a dark world. With over 135 million streams and completely selling out her headline tour, Charlotte is changing the game of music and the lives of so many people who finally have their feelings put down in words. Charlotte Sands is certainly one to watch out for, and we are more than “Alright” with watching her voyage to the stars. With the release of her latest hit “Alright”, Charlotte has announced a partnership with the JED Foundation, a nonprofit working to promote emotional well-being and prevent suicide among teens and adults. She hopes that her song will help break down the stigma surrounding mental health within her fanbase and help others find the support they need.
Alright (Live From The Hammersmith Apollo in London) Lyrics
“Alright” is about having hope when it feels nearly impossible and forcing yourself to see the light at the end of the tunnel, holding onto even the slightest chance that it will get better. We wrote this song with the hope that it could remind even one person that life does go on and nothing is forever. The future can be so daunting especially in times of uncertainty, and it can so often feel like you’re stuck without a way out, but this song is a sign to keep moving forward because it will get better. She was inspired from a young age by artists, like Michelle Branch, who could convey a story in so much detail and captivate their audience from start to finish. Charlotte has always wanted to create a safe space at her shows where people can escape reality for a while and be free to dance and sing in a crowd surrounded by other people who are there for the exact same reason.

Mixing the melodic rush, fiery attitude and relentless energy of pop-punk with the kind of voice and instantly irresistible hooks that powers chart-bound pop stars, Charlotte Sands bridges the space between those two worlds. The chorus delivers the powerful message that the narrator may never be completely alright, but there is hope for improvement. They acknowledge that they are drinking with their ghosts tonight, metaphorically referencing past experiences that continue to haunt them. Despite this, they still believe that things can get better in time. “Alright” is a song that speaks to the struggles of self-doubt and the search for inner peace.
You’ve played shows with My Chemical Romance, YUNGBLUD, and Ava Max, what has been your favourite live performance or tour experience? I’ve had so much fun touring over the last year and they’ve all been such a vital part of my growth as an artist and as a human. I think my favourite experience would be the current tour I’m on right now with PVRIS because it’s the first time I’ve ever toured outside of the country and it’s truly been the most rewarding experience of my life. You moved from Massachusetts to Nashville at 18 to pursue your songwriting, can you tell us about that experience and how it shaped your career? Moving to Nashville was the best decision because it was so challenging but forced me to fight harder for my career than I ever had. I took every opportunity that came my way and learned so much from the incredible artists and songwriters that live there, I’m so grateful for their wisdom and their support.

You’ve been compared to pop-punk and chart-bound pop stars, how do you bridge the gap between those two worlds in your music? I try to bridge the gap by focusing on releasing music that is an authentic representation of myself and not trying too hard to fit into any specific genre. I want to make music that people can relate to and to do that I write about my personal experiences that sometimes may feel more like a pop song or more like a rock song depending on my mood and emotions while writing it.

The Meaning Behind The Song: Alright by Charlotte Sands
Instead she focused entirely on her songwriting, ramping up drastically during lockdown when she released seven singles in 2020 that were recorded in her bedroom studio. Charlotte Sands grew up inspired by both fiery rock bands such as Taking Back Sunday and All Time Low, but also classic singer-songwriters such as Sheryl Crow and Bonnie Raitt. By the time she was 18, she was eager to move from small town Massachusetts to a place that would help her to develop her own talents as a writer.

This vulnerability adds depth to the song, as it portrays a struggle with self-confidence and self-reliance.
All my monsters live in the mirror, so I stare them straight in the face. Tell them even though I’m lost, I’m not afraid.” This section reveals the cycle of seeking change but ultimately feeling trapped by familiar surroundings. However, the narrator chooses to confront their fears and affirm their resilience. Let us know in the comments below or by tweeting us @thehoneypop! One more that we can’t get enough of is ‘Bad Day.’ It’s a catchy bop that we’re pretty much addicted to (But really, that’s the case for all of her songs!).
As the song progresses, it evolves from a reflection on personal struggles to a universal anthem, reassuring listeners that even though they may never be completely alright, it’s going to be alright. Charlotte Sands’ emotive vocals and heartfelt delivery breathe life into the lyrics, making it a powerful and relatable track. The lyrics capture the inner turmoil and constant self-doubt that many of us experience.
You’ve collaborated with artists such as Sleeping with Sirens, Underoath, and Mokita, how do you choose who to collaborate with and what do you look for in a collaboration? I’ve been really fortunate to collaborate with so many incredible artists and bands that I look up to and am really thankful that they’ve included me in so many of their projects. All that matters to me when collaborating with someone is that we have a mutual respect for what the other is doing and are genuinely both excited about the music we’re making. There is nothing more special than creating art you love with people that you love and look up to. Growing up can be tough, especially when you feel like you don’t belong. But for Charlotte Sands, the experience has led her to create a community of her own.
I think because I listened to the demo for so long I became attached to the original production and feeling of the song and wanted to keep that original vulnerability. There are so many things we could have done or added to make it more pop or more rock but we worked really hard to maintain the feeling from the day we wrote it and make sure to not overpower the actual song and story. I get so excited when I’m able to experiment with new sounds and styles and really look forward to being able to do that more and dive deeper into my influences and inspirations. Charlotte Sands' new track “Alright” is the quintessential anthem for us misfits. Try as we may, there’s no clear remedy for feeling out of place. We can envision ourselves in a far away land, let the stars dictate our daily emotions, exude confidence hoping one day it sticks, or clasp our hands together and send a prayer to an unknown location.
It explores the feeling of being lost and the desire to find a sense of belonging and contentment. Charlotte Sands beautifully captures these emotions through her poignant lyrics and heartfelt vocals. On September 13, 2023, Sands released use me[9] as the lead single from her upcoming debut album can we start over?
